The excitement continues to build up for ADM Tiger wrestling as they are just one day away from witnessing two of their own keep their state podium dreams alive at the state wrestling tournament Thursday in Des Moines.

The two that will be representing ADM at the Wells Fargo Arena will be the last of the Tiger returning state qualifiers from a year prior in sophomores Andrew Flora (45-5) and Nolan Harsh (34-8).

Flora headlines the two as class 2A’s 8th ranked 106 lb wrestler hungry to overcome last year’s losses that sent him home early. Flora took the 106 lb crown in district play last Saturday and will be starting off his state wrestling path against conference foe Bryce Hatten (30-8) of Winterset. Flora may have taken just one invitational crown this season but never the less enters the big dance with a six win increase from last year heading into the Wells Fargo arena. Last year Flora’s path to first place was blocked with an opening round loss to Perry’s Kaleb Olejnizcak and while the Perry sophomore enters the state tournament once more, he will reside in the 113 lb weight class. Flora used wins by decision to win in district play and will now take his team leading 18 decision wins into state tournament action tomorrow.

Residing in the 138 lb weight class will be ADM’s other returning state qualifier from last year in Nolan Harsh making his way back to the big stage. Just like Flora, Harsh bowed out early last year with two quick losses and seeks revenge in his second appearance. The forte for Harsh this season comprising his 34-8 record has come via fall or major decision, utilizing a win by fall in district play on Saturday to earn the 138 lb crown. The Tiger sophomore needs to bring his A-game because should he advance to the next round with a win, his potential match up could be against class 2A’s 2nd ranked 138 lb wrestler in Skyler Noftsger with just four losses on the year.

Both Flora and Harsh take on the state tournament tomorrow night, and Raccoon Valley Radio will have all the coverage as both Tiger sophomores seek the class crown.
