The Perry girls basketball team lived and died by the three point shot this year.  After taking 491 3-point attempts this year, it became clear it was a big part of their game.  Their soft touch from the outside left them Saturday night in the most important game of the year as Denison-Schleswig defeated the Jayettes 47-35 in a 4A Regional semifinal from Perry.  Perry shot just 4-22 from beyond the arc, and at one point in the third quarter sat just 2-17.  Denison took the lead for good midway through the second quarter and Perry never really threatened in the second half.  The Monarchs led 17-12 at halftime and expanded that to a 36-21 third quarter lead.

Sophomore Alex Mohr handled the Perry full court pressure all night and was able to find openings on the press break.  Mohr finished with 11 points while 6-0 power forward Jacque Ingram added 11.

Perry was paced by Johanna Diw’s 11 points and Molly Lutmer 10.

The Jayettes close out the season 15-7 while Denison improves to 18-5 and will play for the right to go to state Tuesday night.
