At long last, the Iowa high school state wrestling tournament is underway starting off with class 3A at 9:00 while class 1A individuals get their shot staring at 1:30 pm.

Residing in class 1A is the Panorama Panther wrestling team who has seemed to send an entire family of wrestlers to the state tournament mats. Panorama wields 5 individual Panther wrestlers, all eyeing a podium finish.

The festivities for Panorama are kicked off in the 152 lb weight class where 4th ranked Tyler Van Houten aims for his 51st win on the season battling it out against Akron-Westfield senior Sebastian Berg yielding a 33-11 record.

George Appleseth (132 lbs) finds himself presented with the tough task of defeated class 1A’s 2nd ranked 132 lb wrestler in Joshua Tibbits currently resting with a record of 35-2. Appelseth is one of four returning state qualifiers for the Panthers.

Gunnar Grunsted (170 lbs) will start off his podium pursuit against H-L-V senior Kenneth Kriegel. Grunsted yields a mark of 41-10 while Kriegel takes on Grunsted with a similar record  of 44-10.

Dalton Holms (195 lbs) makes his first appearance at the Wells Fargo Arena boasting a record of 44-9 and will have to bring all of his A game as the individual opposing Holms will be class 1A’s 2nd ranked 195 lb wrestler in Kaleb Reeves of Sigourney. Reeves hits the state mats with a record of 43-5.

Last but certainly not least, Dan Jensen (285 lbs) is matched up against a tough task of his own looking to be one of the few to defeat class 1A’s 9th ranked 285 lb wrestler in junior Cameron Bemino of Belmond-Klemme. Bemino enters the big dance with a record of 33-3 while Jensen aims for his 28th win.
