DSCN5450Heads up to motorists that use East Lincoln Way in Jefferson…crews are repairing a broken sewer line between Chestnut and Locust streets.

Public Works Director Dave Morlan says an eight-inch water line that runs west and east slid down and broke an eight-inch sewer line that runs north and south. Morlan does not know how long the sewer line had been broken. They found the problem area after being called to a Genesis Development residence to jet the sewer line several times. Crews put a camera into the line until it hit the broken area on the north side of the Thomas Jefferson Gardens.

Morlan points out that Lincoln Way from Chestnut to Locust streets will be opened after 3:30pm today and then closed again Wednesday morning.

Crews will install a water valve and lift the water line up in order to repair the sewer line. Water service will be shut off while work is being done. Morlan believes the only area that water service will be affected is The Stitch and an adjacent business across the street.

Morlan hopes to have the repairs made before Friday.
