It certainly wasn’t the weekend the ACGC Lady Chargers were hoping for in their inaugural postseason opener in Corning on Saturday.

ACGC hit the postseason scene taking on a 10-11 Southwest Valley team and while the Lady Chargers well eclipsed their points per game average, they couldn’t accumulate enough points on Saturday for the win by falling 59-42.

The game started off rather close all the way through halftime where the Lady Chargers faced a small 9 point deficit 29-20. All season long there had been one quarter that would bring the Lady Chargers down and unfortunately on Saturday, it would be the third quarter that betrayed them with just six third quarter points. That increased the Southwest Valley lead to 19 points heading into the final quarter. It was there that ACGC put up their best quarter of the night outscoring Southwest Valley 16-14 but just couldn’t string enough points together to overcome the deficit.

Morgan Meacham paced the Lady Chargers with a performance that included 12 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals, all of which led the team. Junior Mady Smith was the next highest scoring Charger on the night with 8 points total.

Unfortunately with the loss the 2016-17 campaign has come to a close for the Lady Chargers who will end the year with a 4-18 overall record and a 3-13 conference mark.
