weatherEmergency Management Coordinator urges everyone in Guthrie and Adair counties to stay home today if possible.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued an ice storm warning, which will remain in effect until midnight tonight.

Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf says county roads are completely covered with ice this morning. However, state highways are about 50 to 75 percent ice covered. He advises everyone to stay home and not travel if possible.

Moisture from the sky is going to continue throughout the day and if pavement temperatures continue to be below freezing, any precipitation may freeze on contact with the roads.
