Veteran poise and leadership have always been coveted as items that can do wonders for a team ranging anywhere from a three game winning streak to a late game comback. In relation to the ADM Tiger basketball team there is no denying the leadership that has been put on full display.

The biggest evidence of that is easily traceable when taking a look at the last six games compared to the first six games for ADM. The Tigers have accumulated three 70 + scoring games in the span of the past six contests compared to 1 throughout the entire first six game stretch. It may not seem like much but the Tiger offensive production has been steadily climbing as of late where ADM has bumped up their points per game average by almost six full points. Quite the feat when with a schedule that included three top ranked teams inside the past six games.

A lot of the success undoubtedly can be traced back to the senior laden roster that head coach Aaron Mager presents, and what’s more is the confidence that radiates from every one of his senior players. Raccoon Valley Radio got the chance to speak with one of the Tiger senior leaders in Payton Conrad confidently sharing the teams sentiments after the Dallas Center-Grimes win.

“We’re a top ten team in the state and I’ve had confidence in my team even from day one. We started out with a slow start but we’re a top ten team in the state and I’m sticking to my word on that the whole season. Beating teams like this (Dallas Center-Grimes) who are ranked in the top ten. I would just look out for us in the second half of the Raccoon River Conference, don’t sleep on us,” explained Payton.

Payton and the rest of the very confident Tiger basketball squad are victors of 4 out of their last five game and look to add one more tick to the win column tomorrow night when they travel to Huxley to square off against the Ballard Bombers. That game can be heard on K107.9 FM and streamed online at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
