The Zika virus continues to be a concern for the Center for Disease Control.

Dallas County Public Health Program Manager Lisa Anderson says there have now been confirmed cases in two U.S. areas, Miami-Dade County in Florida and Brownsville, Texas.

Anderson says it’s concerning because people travel, especially to warmer climates, during the winter.

“The CDC recommends that women who lived lived in, traveled to or had sex without a condom with someone who lived in or traveled to Miami-Dade County after August 1st, or Brownsville, Texas on or after October 29th should be tested for Zika virus.  So it doesn’t have to necessarily be the woman that traveled.”

If you’re pregnant or planning to get pregnant, Anderson says the CDC recommends using condoms throughout the pregnancy or abstaining from sex.
