While games all around the area were feeling the effects of old man winter, the West Central Activities Conference showdown between the Panorama Panthers and the Des Moines Christian Lions marched on. It was a solid performance from both teams however Des Moines Christian would come out on top both games taking a win in the girls contest 39-50 and in the boys game 76-38.

In the girls contest, the Lady Panthers experienced something they haven’t yet experienced all season…a loss. Panorama suffered their first loss on the year against a Des Moines Christian squad who seems to have been Panorama’s kryptonite. The Lady Lions have now defeated Panorama 5 out of the past 7 meetings. With the loss Panorama puts their first tick mark in the loss column, 10-1 overall with a 7-1 conference mark. The Lady Panthers will look to find their way back on the winning trail this Friday when they lay host to the West Central Valley Lady Wildcats with game tip off set for 6:00 pm.

On the boys side, Panorama came into last night’s contest as one of the hottest teams in the conference as of late victors in their past three straight games. They have also averaged just over 66 points per game in that time frame. Unfortunately for the Panthers, their hot scoring streak was cooled off as Des Moines Christian allowed just one double digit scoring quarter for Panorama on the night. The top ten raked Lions notched a 23-8 score at the end of one quarter which ballooned into a 55-24 halftime lead thanks to a 32 point second quarter. The Panthers did hold Des Moines Christian to just 21 second half points but had a hard time scoring offensively connecting for just 14 second half points. With the loss the Panthers now drop to 4-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
