Several Greene County students are preparing for tomorrow’s Iowa High School Speech Association’s large group contest.
Greene County High School speech coach Kelley Gray says 33 students will be performing in six events at the district contest at Perry High School on Saturday. The six events include a one act play, radio news, choral reading, readers theater, short film and group improvisation.
Gray says the students have dedicated lots of hours in practicing and rehearsing for the upcoming contest. Her hope is that each student gives their best performance and in doing so qualifies for the state contest on February 4th.
Paton-Churdan speech coach Stephanie Pace says they have ten students performing in two events, including short film and group improvisation.
The public is invited to attend with a $3 admission charge.

Short Film: Megan Carey (Sophomore), Briana Jewett (Sophomore), Carter Meseck (Sophomore), Eric Sabus (Sophomore), Ty Lynn Smith (Sophomore), Mason Sorenson (Sophomore), Eric Thompson (Sophomore) and Kyla Beyers (Freshman).
Group Improv: Autumn Gannon (Senior) Jenna Beyers (Sophomore) and Carey.
