Despite slick road conditions Monday morning, no accidents have been reported to the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Jack Williams says highway 30 is drivable and the county paved roads have been scraped and treated but remain slick. The gravel roads are also very slick and completely covered with ice. He advises no one travel if they don’t have to today. He adds that a second round of freezing rain is due to come through the County before noon.
The Secondary Roads Department, as well as the City of Jefferson crews have been out since before 5am applying sand and salt to the roads, so that motorists can get traction. Crews are expected to stay out all day today treating the roads.
