GilliamA Linden man is in custody after fleeing the hospital and leading police on a chase Saturday morning.

Perry Police Sergeant Jim Archer tells Raccoon Valley Radio officers were dispatched to Dallas County Hospital shortly before 4am when a court ordered patient was leaving the building.  Officers responded and after receiving a description of the individual they began checking several places in Perry.  At approximately 6:12am, a resident who lives at one of the places police checked earlier called officers and stated the suspect had just been at his residence but was leaving westbound on Willis Avenue in a tan 1999 Buick Century.

The vehicle was reported stolen around the same time.  Officers found the car near the intersection of 11th Street and Record Street.  While trying to stop vehicle, the driver, 18 year-old Logan Gilliam of Linden, fled on foot. Officers were able to take him into custody a short distance from the car.

Gilliam is charged with third degree burglary and second degree robbery, both class D felonies. He is currently being held in the Dallas County jail on a $5,000 bond.
