iowa-state-patrolA fatal accident Monday morning on Highway 30 kills a Greene County resident and injuries two others.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 20 year-old Jacob R. Vreugdenhil of Grand Junction was traveling west on Highway 30 near Beaver in Boone County just before 8am.  His 2008 Chevrolet Impala drifted over the centerline and collided head on with a 2016 Nissan NV200 van, driven by 50 year-old Thomas Lee Hagar of Jefferson.

Hagar was pronounced dead at the scene. Vreugdenhil and a passenger in Hagar’s vehicle, 57 year-old Lesa D Llewellyn-Hagar were injured and transported to Boone County Hospital by Boone County Emergency Medical Services. The extent of their injuries and current conditions are unknown at this time. All three individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The Boone and Greene County Sheriff’s offices and Ogden Police Department assisted at the scene.
