It may have taken 12 games, but the ACGC boys basketball team finally made it into the win column last night as they were engaged in conference play against West Central Valley.

It was by far the Chargers best overall performance both offensively and defensively as they scored a season high 56 points while holding the Wildcats to 48 points for a 56-48 win. ACGC started their great performance off from the word go posting up a 13-7 first quarter lead while connecting on a single quarter high 20 points in the second quarter to head into the half up 33-21. The Chargers had a scare in the third quarter after being outscored 12-8 by the Wildcats but held strong with a 15 point fourth quarter to retain the lead and pick up their first win on the season.

The individual with the hottest hand on the night was freshmen Quynton Younker picking up a team best 23 points which not only led the team last night, but was the single highest point total for a Charger player this season. Younker connected on 5 out of 8 shots from field goal range while unstoppable from beyond the arc connecting on all three perimeter shots. Caden Wardyn and Colton Sargent tied for second in scoring honors with 11 points each on the night.

The Charger boys finally put a tick mark in the win column improving their overall record to 1-11 with a conference mark of 1-9. The Chargers will now be on the hunt for their first winning streak of the season as they take to the road Thursday night in Anita against CAM high school. The boys game will be game two of a girl/boy double header with the boys contest set for 7:30 pm.
