Both ACGC Charger basketball teams will seek to get back into the win column tonight as they lay host to conference foe Madrid.

The Lady Chargers have had a grueling schedule as of late with 2 of their last three opponents inside the top ten rankings of the latest polls. ACGC will seek to snap their current three game loosing skid and they’ll have to do so once again with a predominantly underclassmen offense. They will be looking towards their junior duo of Madison Berger and Morgan Meacham to lead they way. Berger enters as the teams leading sharp shooter averaging a team high 9.2 points per game and connecting on a smooth 71% from the free throw line. Fellow junior Morgan Meacham will look to handle the task off the glass as the teams leading rebounder with 77 to go along with averaging 7.8 points per game. The tough test defensively will be stopping Madrid’s leading scorer Shayla Peters averaging 14.4 points per game, all under the three point arc.

In the boys contest they are still in the hunt for their first win on the season taking on a Madrid team involved in a loosing skid of their own having dropped their last 4 games. The Charger boys squad has also had a grueling schedule as of late and they look to end the drought behind their top two scoring threats Colton Sargent, averaging 9.8 points per contest, and Collin Stowe averaging 6.8 points per game. The task off the glass for the Chargers will belong to Caden Wardyn leading the team in rebounds on the season with 43. The defensive delema the Chargers will have to figure out is limiting the production of Madrid’s Braden Gibbons averaging 15.1 points per game with 27 made three pointers on the season.

The Lady Chargers seek the season sweep of Madrid while the Charger boys seek to extract revenge with a victory to even their season series against Madrid tonight. Girls game tips off at 6:00 pm with the boys contest to follow at 7:30 from ACGC high school.
