logo-Iowa-DNRThe Iowa Department of Natural Resources would like to remind all hunters to donate to a program that helps less fortunate families in Iowa.

The Help Us Stop Hunger program partners with 81 meat lockers provide meat to needy Iowans with the help of the Food Bank of Iowa.

The lockers will accept deer from hunters, which are then skinned, de-boned and ground into two-pound packages. Those packages are then distributed to families.

The HUSH program is funded by a one dollar surcharge with each deer tag a hunter purchases. Last year, 3,400 families were provided with meat from 66,300 donated deer.

Hunters don’t pay a fee when they donate their deer to a locker. To find a locker near you, click the link below.
