perry logoAs the sanitary sewer system jetting and cameraing project continues in Perry, those in the impacted areas may be experiencing some temporary, unpleasant smells.

Fortunately, Public Works Director Jack Butler says there are things you can do and they’re there to help.

“That jetter uses water pressure and they go from one manhole to the next, so when they’re pulling it back it will actually pull water out of your traps, like your floor drains are your biggest problems.  Mainly this always happens in the basement.  If you get home and you see the truck out there and you’re getting a sewer gas smell, get a gallon of water and run down and make sure your floor drains have all got water in them and check your sinks and stuff.”

Butler says if that doesn’t work, feel free to call City Hall and someone from the Public Works department will come check it out before you rack up a bill with a plumber.
