It was the conference opener for the ACGC boys basketball team last night as they were at home facing off against Ogden.

While the scoring for ACGC was strong in the second half, it was the slow first half that was the biggest detriment to the Chargers as they would fall in the conference opener 52-36. The first quarter was lethargic for ACGC as the Chargers put up just 5 first quarter points followed up by 9 second quarter points for a halftime defecit of 29-14. ACGC did turn on the jets starting in the third quarter out scoring Ogden 10-9 while posting up 12 fourth quarter points but couldn’t grab enough for the win, loosing 52-36.

Colton Sargent led the way offensively for ACGC with 13 total points on the night while also leading the team in rebounds with 6 for the contest. As a team the Chargers went 9-22 in 2pt field goals while converting on 2 of their 10 three point attempts. The Chargers went 12 of 23 from the free throw line while totaling 4 steals, 7 assists, and 21 turnovers.

The Chargers now fall to 0-2 overall which just so happens to be their conference record as well. ACGC will have their shot at redemption coming up on Tuesday as they remain at home for a Guthrie County showdown against the West Central Valley Wildcats as part of a double header with the girls game set for 6:00 pm and the boys game to follow at 7:30 pm.
