During open forum, County Assessor Steve Helm talked about options he sees for his office moving forward.  He referenced last week’s conversation in regards to future use of the 121 North 9th Street building.  He said he took a look at current space out there to see how it would work for his department.  The issue will be further discussed at next week’s meeting.

At the meeting, payroll change notices were approved as presented.

Dana Wernimont with Design Alliance then spoke about the 902 Court Street building.  Several departments have already moved into their new space and the rest will be getting moved yet this week.

Next week’s Supervisor’s meeting will be held in the community room of the north campus as contractors will be working on construction in the Supervisors meeting room at 902 Court Street. Mental Health Director Darci Alt mentioned that the elevator continues to be unreliable and is rarely used by employees for that reason.  The Board expressed they were not aware that there were issues with the functionality.

The sixth change order for the Edge Commercial portion of the north campus project was then approved for a refund of $85.

A wetland mitigation credit purchase from the Iowa Department of Transportation was then approved.  The DOT is purchasing 0.36 acres of credits from the County’s bank.

A mental health advocate cost sharing 28E agreement was then discussed.  Mental Health Director Darci Alt says the person currently performing these duties for Dallas County is also employed by four other counties.  Alt says the person currently in the position has been doing this job for 3.5 years, is a good employee and she would like to retain him.  She was asked by members of the regional governing board to bring this before the Supervisors to have Dallas County serve as the primary employer. This would add a benefit structure to the employee’s compensation package and decrease the split to three counties instead of five. The Board wants more information as of an a late morning recess,  no formal action was taken.
