jefferson-city-council-10_25The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The Council approved the third reading to increase the garbage and recycling rates each by five percent, the quarterly funding request for Greene County Development Corporation, a letter of support for Greene County law enforcement to apply for Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation funds to get new radios due to new state and federal mandates and an agreement with People for Animal Welfare Society to staff and operate the existing animal shelter with $6,000 from the City.

The Council also approved an economic development agreement with a business interested in purchasing the City’s property at 111 East Lincoln Way, an agreement with Bolton & Menk to conduct an enhancement study for the east corridor to the City for $24,500, setting November 8th at 5:30pm as the public hearing date for a development agreement with Thomas Jefferson Gardens and agreements to acquire the properties at North High Street and North Cedar Street from the county for no cash considerations.

The meeting ended with a presentation from the police department about the need to create another patrol officer’s position in the department. No action was taken by the Council following the presentation.
