guthrie-co-supervisors-10_25The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday in regular session.

Following a report by Elderbridge Agency on Aging, the Board approved a $8,170.95 request for funding for the 2018 fiscal year.

The Board then discussed a transfer station hauling contract. Due to raising costs, the Board wanted to update and put out for bids for a contractor to haul their solid waste. Following the discussion, the Board set November 3rd as the date to have a finalize version of the contract, stipulating whether or not they want to charge per ton or per load, before putting it out for bids. It would ultimately be a three-year contract.

Finally, County Engineer Josh Sebern opened four bids that were received for the Hungry Canyons project by Hickory Avenue. The low bid was from J&K Contracting from Ames for $101,030. Bids ranged from $101,000 to $144,000. The engineer’s estimate was increased to $120,000 from $100,000 after the Supervisors allowed for an extended time period to do the project. Sebern noted that they will review the bids before bringing a recommendation to the Board for their approval.
