casey-300x236A former Casey City Clerk has will spend five years in prison after committing fraud and setting the community building on fire.

Sixty-one year-old Dorothy L Dillinger was sentenced in federal court Friday for charges of mail fraud and malicious use of fire.  After her release from prison, Dillinger will serve three years of supervised release and has been ordered to pay $200 toward the Crime Victims’ fund.  Restitution will be determined at a future hearing.

Dillinger pled guilty to the charges in May, stating she engaged in a scheme to defraud the City of Casey from 2009 until August 2014 while serving as City Clerk.  She admitted to using the City’s credit card and funds to purchase items for personal use without approval and used City checks to pay the resulting credit card statements.

The day before a scheduled audit in August of 2014, Dillinger set the building on fire, destroying it completely.

The case was investigated by the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, FBI and State Fire Marshal.
