The City of Perry is continuing their efforts to jet and camera all of the town’s sanitary sewer lines.

Perry has a contract with local business AccuJet to do the project.  The City has been broken into 11 phases and so far four of them have been completed with additional work expected to begin soon.

“When they run the jetter by there, it will pull the water out of your traps, under your sinks or floor drain.  Then the next thing you know, you’ll start smelling the sewer gas.  So the biggest thing we always tell everybody is after they’ve come and they’ve jetted in front of your house, make sure all of your floor drains, go down and dump water down them.  Make sure all of your sinks, run water in them.  You’ll get one down in the basement that only gets used once a month or something, you’ll get a smell coming back up because that machine will pull that water out of that trap.”

That’s Public Works Director Jack Butler.  He says if running water down the drain does not get rid of the stench, call City Hall and they will come check it out.
