logo-Iowa-DNRHunting season has arrived and for those of us who don’t have access to private land, Guthrie County is filled with some of the best public hunting grounds in the state.

Iowa DNR Conservation Officer Jeremy King says you can’t go wrong hunting along the Middle Raccoon River. “Depending on what you’re chasing, our public areas are phenomenal for deer and turkey hunting, plus upland birds and waterfowl. Every year, I see multiple big deer killed off our public areas. There’s also deer left over, so there’s no shortage of them, even though those lands get hunted hard. One of the best areas for deer, is the area south of Panora along the Middle Raccoon River, that runs from Panora along the river into Dallas County close to Redfield.”
King will give us more hunting tips today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
