Greene County RamsThe Greene County School Board will meet in special session tonight.

The Board will further discuss and possibly take action on transportation for shared sports programs with other school districts.

The topic was brought up at the regular school board meeting earlier this month by parents of the girls swim team that have to travel to Boone. Superintendent Tim Christensen says Greene County has shared girls swimming with Boone for several years and the district used to provide transportation for students, but currently, the district does not.

Concerned parents asked the Board to reconsider transporting the six girls to and from Boone for safety reasons.

“Board did not make a decision. They’ve requested that myself and Activities Director Dean Lansman, we kind of put some cost estimates together, because I think the Board is pretty adamant that it wouldn’t be just for girls swimming, it would also need to be for boys swimming and for soccer and anything shared.”

The special meeting takes place tonight at 6pm in the conference room of the administrative building in Jefferson.
