dc conservationThe Dallas County Conservation Department is bringing back a popular program next month for those who appreciate the smaller living things.

Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says the educational and entertaining Insect Sweep program tends to attract a good crowd.

“They’re trying to figure out what’s going on with the insects, I mean worldwide a lot of insect populations are not doing well.  The Germans have seen a huge drop in their insect populations, which is not good news for our ecosystems.  But you’ll (find) praying mantises, grasshoppers, butterflies and many other things.  In the 2015 Insect Sweep they tagged a monarch and it was later found in Mexico.”

The program takes place Saturday, September 10 from 9-11am at the Forest Park Museum in Perry.

There’s no cost to attend but pre-registration is required.  To reserve your spot, call 465-3577.
