iowarrhA band and an artist, both with local ties, will be inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend.

Perry native J.C. Wilson’s band The Flying Marsupials, which also includes members Lance Eaton, Mark Leeper, Steve Rorebeck, Dave Stalder, Nate Carlson, Brian Vance and Andy TeBockhorst will be honored in the band category.  Perry’s Hal Thompson will be inducted as an artist.

Known as one of the Des Moines area’s best party bands, “The Supes” as they were often referred to as formed in 1989 and played in central Iowa through 2003.  They continue to get together a few times a year to perform.

Thompson is a very well respected guitarist and vocalist in central Iowa.  The local favorite most recently performed in Perry at the 4th of July celebration in 2014.

A weekend full of activities is scheduled to begin Friday and the induction ceremony takes place in Arnolds Park Sunday afternoon.
