emergency managementSeptember is Emergency Preparedness Month and a free workshop in Menlo will allow area licensed child care centers, preschools, child development homes and non-registered homes with a child care assistance agreement to develop an emergency preparedness plan under new guidelines.

Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR & R) and local emergency management staff will be on hand to answer questions about the new requirements, as well as discuss emergency procedures and resources in the region.

Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf adds it’s important for any home or business to develop an emergency management plan. “Probably the biggest thing is having a plan for communicating, including knowing who you’re going to communicate with that’s out of town away from where the emergency or disaster might be occurring, so you can let them know you’re okay and they can let other relatives know you’re okay. Plus, information that’s good to have with you is insurance information, vital statistics and other things like that.”
The CCR & R workshop takes place Monday, September 12th at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the Menlo Community Building.
