The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met Wednesday in regular session.

The Board heard a presentation from Burbach Aquatics, Inc. from Platteville, Wisconsin. The engineering firm talked to the Board about a variety of ways that the city’s swimming pool could be upgraded and modified. David Burbach provided a three phase approach, which included establishing a pool committee and a capital campaign, developing design and construction plans and putting the project out for bid. The company has done at least 15 pools in Iowa with the closest being in Carroll and Adel. The Board didn’t take action on the topic.

The Board then denied a request from New Opportunities to rent the old preschool room at the community center. The decision was made, due to the fact that there are already several other parks and rec program that use the space and generate about as much money as New Opportunities would pay to rent it.
