Jefferson Matters: Main Street recently received National Main Street Accreditation.

The announcement came after the annual evaluation of Jefferson Matters: Main Street by Main Street Iowa. They work in partnership with the National Main Street Center to identify those programs that have met ten performance standards. Some of those standards include fostering strong public-private partnerships, securing an operating budget, tracking program progress and actively preserving historic buildings.

One big step that helped the national recognition was when Jefferson Matters and the City of Jefferson received a Community Development Block Grant for the downtown revitalization of some of the buildings.
