Nicholas BalderasA Jefferson man was arrested after eluding officers last week.

According to the police report, 24 year-old Nicholas Anthony Balderas was arrested in the 400 block of South Pinet Street just before noon on Saturday. The homeowner gave permission to the officer to look for Balderas. The officer found him hiding in the upstairs loft of a carriage house in the back of the property.

Before he was booked into the Greene County Jail, Balderas was taken to Greene County Medical Center for dehydration, due to the extreme heat over the weekend.

Balderas had been on the run from authorities since Thursday. An alleged domestic abuse assault incident was reported at the residence early Thursday morning. Balderas wasn’t in the home when an officer arrived on scene but he was later charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for domestic abuse. Around 8:40pm that evening, Balderas was at the Dairy Queen on Elm Street and when an officer stopped to talk with him, Balderas took off on foot. The officer pursued him, but lost sight of him by the overpass bridge. He was additionally charged with a simple misdemeanor for interference with official acts and has two warrants from Guthrie County for failure to appear for traffic violations.

He has being held in jail under a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
