As we reported, an escapee from Fort Des Moines was temporarily in Stuart Thursday afternoon.

The Stuart Police Department says around noon they investigated a reported sighting of Joseph LeClair in the 300 block of North Main Street. A female, later identified as Lora Sue Baudler, of Stuart, answered the door when the officer knocked but refused to cooperate with authorities. She left the property and allegedly made a false 9-1-1 call telling authorities LeClair was at a different location. Stuart Police, state troopers and deputies from Adair and Guthrie counties surrounded the house while a warrant was being prepared.

At about 3:30 p.m. authorities entered the house and found LeClair hiding inside. He was arrested and taken to the Guthrie County Jail where he is held without bond. Baudler was arrested Thursday night and is facing misdemeanor charges of false reports to or communications with public entities and accessory after the fact.

LeClair was involved in a similar incident last year when he escaped from work release for over two months from May-July, before being arrested in Polk County.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information once it becomes official.
