Efforts to connect the Raccoon River Valley Trail to the High Trestle Trail are “intensifying”.
The “Let’s Connect” fundraising campaign aims to raise around $5 million for the nine mile “connector” trail.
Bob Wilson with the Perry Chamber is helping with the efforts and says collecting private donations will just open doors to more funding.
“The neat thing about this money is if we privately generate money to X amount, it can be applied against grant funds 80/20. So sometimes you turn $150,000 into $600,000. That’s what those grant programs want to see is private investment. They want to see buy in for the communities and the individuals.”
The fundraising committee and Dallas County Conservation Department have put together an informational packet on the project. You can pick one up at the Chamber office or CLICK HERE.
