Roundhouse[1]The Dexter Community House, often referred to as the Roundhouse, is nearing its 100th anniversary.

A centennial celebration next month will pay tribute to the landmark. Resident Marilyn Boyle says many community members have fond memories tied to the building, but those that attended school functions there may remember it best. “They have the most memories of all of the events that went on here. Before the school had an auditorium or gymnasium, everything happened here, including graduation, concerts, dances and sports games. They held basketball sectionals here. We are told it could seat 1,000 people in the bleachers that were on both sides of the building. There are a lot of fond memories associated with this place.”

The centennial celebration is scheduled for Saturday, August 6th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dexter Community House and will feature historical displays and presentations, refreshments and plenty of reminiscing.
