droughtMother Nature gave a last ditch effort at trying to end the month with some rain yesterday but the Raccoon River Valley is still below normal monthly precipitation totals for June.

According to the National Drought Mitigation Center, all of Dallas, Greene and Guthrie counties are now experiencing abnormally dry conditions and the southeast portion of Iowa is officially in a drought.

According to the National Weather Service, Perry received just under an inch of rain this week for a total of almost three inches this month.  Guthrie Center added just 0.7 inch to their total of less than one inch in June.  Both areas typically see around 5.1 inches of rain in June.
