Greene County SheriffA Churdan man faces charges for allegedly shooting out a semi-truck tire.

Greene County Chief Deputy Jack Williams says Shane Olson is charged with a Class C Felony for intimidation with a dangerous weapon to provoke fear, an aggravated misdemeanor for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and a serious misdemeanor for third degree criminal mischief.

The charges stem from an investigation that began on June 17th. A semi-truck driver reported at 12:24pm that he heard two gunshots after he passed Olson’s residence at 480 N Avenue in Churdan. After Williams arrived on scene at 12:36pm, there was air coming out of one of the tires and when they arrived at McAtee Tire and Service in Jefferson, Williams notes that he extracted what he thought was a .223-caliber bullet from the inside dual of the trailer tire. There was also what appeared to be a bullet hole on the box of the trailer and one through a tire mud flap.

Williams then interviewed Olson, who said he was in Lohrville at the time of the incident. Williams went to Lohrville and took statements from witnesses which placed Olson in Lohrville at five minutes to 1pm and not at 12:20pm like Olson told him. Williams also found two new ammunition boxes full of .223-caliber bullets, but no firearm.

An arrest warrant has been issued and Olson is expected to turn himself in to the Law Enforcement Center. Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he will be held in the Greene County Jail under a $10,000 cash or surety bond.

The investigation is ongoing at this time with more charges pending.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
