Local law enforcement reminds everyone to be safe on the road during the 2016 Click It or Ticket campaign.

Statistics with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that more people are using their seat belts during the day, but that number is lower for those traveling at night. That’s why law enforcement, including the Greene County Sheriff’s office and the Jefferson Police Department, will be making a strong effort during every hour and every day, but especially from 6pm to 6am for seat belt violators.

Even though it’s a law to wear a seatbelt in the front of a vehicle, authorities are also encouraging seat belt usage for those in the back seats as well.

The Click It or Ticket mobilization is from now until June 5th.
