casey-300x236 (1)A former Casey City Clerk pled guilty to one count of mail fraud and one count of malicious use of fire Tuesday in a federal courtroom in Des Moines.
Dorothy Dillinger admitted to engaging in a scheme to defraud the City from around 2009 until August 2014, while serving as City Clerk. Additionally, she admitted to purchasing personal items with the City’s credit card without City Council approval, and used City checks to pay the resulting credit card balances. Plus, Dillinger says she made unauthorized payments to herself for personal expenses without Council approval or official notification.
Dillinger also admits to maliciously destroying City Hall, which was burned down the night before a state audit was scheduled on August 20th, 2014.
She faces at least five years and up to 20 years in federal prison, as well as financial penalties and supervised release. Plus, Dillinger agrees to pay restitution in an amount to be determined by the court at the time of sentencing.
Dillinger is scheduled to be sentenced at 10:30 a.m. on September 26, 2016 by Senior United States District Court Judge James E. Gritzner at the United States Courthouse in Des Moines.
