jeffersonOne of Greene County’s unique structures will be opening for the season this weekend.

The Mahanay Bell Tower in Jefferson will be open on the weekends starting this Saturday. From 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays until Memorial Day, visitors and community members can take a trip to the top of the Bell Tower and look out over the county. Greene County Chamber Tourism and Events Coordinator Angie Pedersen appreciates the work that the tour guide staff does at the Bell Tower.

“Pat Richards and her gang, they represent the community so well. They share not just the Bell Tower but also great places to eat and then she tells our visitors all kinds of great information and places to visit in town.”

The Bell Tower recently underwent renovations to the interior with new tiles, a podium and a display case.

Anyone 18 years-old and younger is admitted for free, due to the generous sponsorship of the Jefferson Kiwanis Club. Adult admissions are $3 and a season pass if $15. Pedersen also wants to remind everyone that this Saturday is the Chamber’s Spring Into Greene event at the courthouse from 9am to 3pm.
