A local fundraiser will help support young patients at Blank Children’s Hospital.

Greene County High School students Wade Wuebker and Jensen Ruzicka are collecting items for Chemo Care packages to send to kids. Items that are needed include hand sanitizer, chapstick, gum, lemon drops candy, fruit snacks, along with new Lego, board and card games, Play-Doh, crayons and coloring books.

Donation boxes are setup at Hy-Vee, the Greene County Community Center, Dollar General Shopko and Fareway. Wuebker says he and Rucizka were inspired to do the project for their government class from a statistic that said every year, parents of about 15,700 children will hear the words “your child has cancer,” and they wanted to do something to help the kids at Blank Children’s Hospital.

Donations must be made by Thursday, May 5th.
