GC Music BannerGreene County High School will be one of several sites hosting the Iowa High School Music Association’s State Jazz Festival on Monday.

Choir Director David Heupel is very excited to host the event. Each of the four schools will perform for 40 minutes, receive a rating and are then be critiqued by a judge. Heupel says the IHSMA believes that the judge’s comments and improved performance are most important and the ratings are secondary.

The first group performs at 5:40pm and Greene County’s Jazzatonics will take the stage at 8:30pm. The jazz choir will perform Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me, Tenderly, Song For My Father and All The Cats Join In. The other schools that are performing include Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto, Carroll Kuemper and Harlan.

The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students. It takes place in the high school auditorium.
