wxIt was a wet Thanksgiving for the Raccoon River Valley as rain continued to fall throughout the day and night.

When temperatures dropped in the evening, the precipitation began to freeze on surfaces and caused a few issues.  As of late Thursday, the Iowa Department of Transportation was reporting that some roads in Greene and Guthrie County were partially covered with ice.

Power outages were also a concern, as more 330 customers in Greene County were without power Thursday night.  The Raccoon Valley Radio network’s Severe Weather Action Team was on alert throughout the storm.  Our staff was in contact with local officials and power companies, getting the latest information on how our local residents were being affected by the storm.  Ice accumulation did impact the KGRA and KKRF radio towers, resulting in brief broadcast disruptions.

As always, when severe weather hits Dallas, Greene or Guthrie counties, you can count on the Raccoon Valley Radio network to bring you updated information first, fast and accurately.
