The Perry Chamber unofficially kicked off the holiday season with their annual Lighted Christmas Parade Friday.
It was a chilly night, but that didn’t stop around two dozen parade entries and hundreds of spectators from turning out to take part in the festivities. Following the parade, Raccoon Valley Radio provided a sound system as attendees watched as Mayor Jay Pattee and his wife Jan lit the Christmas tree near the Perry Public Library in honor of their late son and anyone who has lost a child. The Perry High School Select Choir performed outside before moving indoors to the Hotel Pattee to provide the soundtrack as youngsters visited with Santa and enjoyed hot chocolate.
The Carnegie Library Museum was open special hours with their Festival of Trees exhibit which attracted many visitors and La Poste also welcomed a crowd who enjoyed their live music, food and beverages.
