guthrie county sheriffThe Guthrie County Sheriff’s office has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the South Central Iowa E911 Services Board.

The grant funds will go toward building a new dispatch center and making improvements to their communications tower. Sheriff Marty Arganbright says the improvements will allow his office to better serve the residents of Guthrie County. “We’ll have two dispatch centers, so if there’s an emergency situation we can have two dispatchers working at the same time. It’s a hands-free system, so if the dispatchers have to get up and do something, they can still listen and talk to the 9-1-1 callers through a headset.”
The grant doesn’t require any matching funds, meaning the entire $100,000 amount will be provided without Guthrie County taxpayers having to make any financial contribution.
The improvements are expected to be installed in March 2016.
