The Greene County High School boys’ basketball team continues preparing for its Tuesday, Dec. 1 opener with Perry in the middle school gym in Jefferson. Coach Jeramie Hinote’s Rams host South Central Calhoun today for a scrimmage in the middle school gym. Last Friday’s snowstorm cancelled practice that day and last Saturday, and Coach Hinote will be practicing tomorrow to make up for lost time.

Tuesday’s game will feature two of last season’s top individual scorers in all of Class 3A in Perry’s Shammond Ivory and Greene County’s Trey Tucker. Ivory is a rare four-year varsity starter for the Blue Jays, while Tucker is a three-year starter in just his third year of high school. The Perry guard surpassed the career 1,000 point mark last season, while Tucker will likely do so early this season as he enters his junior campaign with 909 career points and a career scoring average of more than 21 points per contest.

In addition to the two high scoring guards, both teams return a number of other capable players from a season ago. Perry won the Raccoon River Activities Conference title last season while the Rams were 6-15 overall and in the lower division of the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference.

Tuesday’s girl/boy twin bill can be heard on KG98, the new 99.7 FM, KDLS 1310 AM, and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
