IMG_4558The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

At the meeting, payroll change notices were approved for the Emergency Medical Services department and the communications division of the sheriff’s office.

A temporary road closure on 320th Way was then approved.  Ganoe Escavating of Stuart will be working to replace four box culverts and Engineer Al Miller says it should take around one month to complete.

A bond and disclosure counsel engagement agreement was then approved with Ahlers and Cooney.

The low bid for the parking lot at the human services campus was then approved.  The County received a total of four bids for the project.

Another assigned and unassigned department space workshop was then held.  Emergency Management Coordinator Barry Halling says he and Sheriff Chad Leonard went and toured the human services campus and the large open room in the building would accommodate all of his department’s needs in terms of space.  Architect Jerry Purdy with Design Alliance then shared a diagram of plans for the dispatch floor of the building.  After some discussion with several department heads, no official action was taken.

The Board then held an operations department workshop.  Former Operations Administrator Connie Kinnard is no longer employed by the County and former assistant administrator Eric Weber is currently working as the interim director.  The Board spoke with Human Resources Director Erin Freeman and Auditor Gene Krumm about how the department functions overlap and discuss the job description..  Weber says experience with government finance is something he feels is necessary for someone to be successful in the administrator’s position.  He recommended an educational background in accounting or finance.  Right now five years of operations experience is required, along with three years in a supervisory position.  Freeman says applicants who are Certified Public Accountants are strongly preferred.  When asked how he sees himself in the mix as they look to fill the vacancy, Weber says he feels he would likely try for the position.  Auditor Gene Krumm asked the Board who wrote the job description and said he thinks they would be hard pressed to find someone to fill it as currently written.  Freeman will continue to develop a job description based on two different ideas for the position and the Board will take action at a future meeting.
