perry schoolsRaccoon Valley Radio will be airing a special edition news magazine this Thursday evening titled Meet the Candidates: The Perry School Board Election.

Today we start by introducing two of the six candidates vying for one of three seats on the board.

Pete Malmberg is the parent of a middle school student in the Perry Community School District and currently works as the Dallas County Conservation Museum Curator.  He explains why he chose to run for school board.

“I felt this was somewhere I could make a difference and give back to the community.  I’m a long time educator and a member and president of several statewide boards.

I’m also a parent of the Perry middle schooler so I feel I have some unique experiences and qualifications that would help make me an effective candidate.”

Corey Eastman has two children in the Perry schools and currently works as the Perry City Clerk.  He explains why he chose to run for election.

“Because I’m a parent of the two students in the district and I value their education and that of other students in the district.  I would like to see the district provide a complete, positive school experience for every student that is safe, secure and academically successfully. I feel students learn best when they are engaged, valued for their uniqueness, have the opportunity to socialize and have a community that will collaborate with them for success.  I am dedicated to the students in the district and their futures that they will build on their foundations in the district.”

Tune in Thursday to hear from these two and the other candidates running for a spot on the Perry School Board. You can hear the special edition magazine starting at 6pm on AM 1310 KDLS and the new 99.7 FM.  It will also be available on demand via our website and mobile apps.
