GuthrieCountyPrecinctMapwithPollingLocations-page-001Voters in Guthrie County have the opportunity today to choose how their Board of Supervisors is elected. Currently, Supervisors are elected by what’s called Plan 3, in which they’re voted on solely by citizens in their assigned district. A group of bipartisan citizens have petitioned to change that method to Plan 2, in which the districts would remain, but allow all voters in the County to vote in all five Supervisor races. Guthrie County Supervisor Mike Dickson says he likes the current system of election, because it keeps Supervisors more accountable to the local constituents of their district. “I think we have a better voice this way. You’re better represented, because we have to answer to our district, in addition to answering to the entire County. I just think you get a lot better voice with that.”

The polls are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Tune in to Raccoon Valley Radio tonight after the polls close for full election results. Dickson will be our guest today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County to talk more about the special election. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
