The city is enrolled in a year long pilot program paid for by the Department of Energy, in which Franklin Energy, a consulting firm from Urbandale, measures the city’s overall efficiency. Energy consultant Jason Parker says overall the City is doing a good job, but there’s opportunity for improvement by putting the annual holiday light display on a timer, setting guidelines for thermostats in city buildings and making some adjustments at the public works shop. Over the next few months more focus is expected to put on the efficiency of the current Guthrie County State Bank building, which in 2016 will become the Guthrie Center City Hall.
