Wild Rose Jefferson Grand Opening is this Weekend

The final countdown is on for the grand opening of Wild Rose Jefferson.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved a gaming license for the state’s newest casino on June 12, 2014, when chairman Jeff Lamberti was the deciding vote, which passed 3-2.

Since that point, the 40,000-square foot, $40 million facility at the northwest corner of US Highway 30 and Iowa Highway 4 is set to ring in the occasion with a public grand opening celebration this weekend.

Marketing Manager Aaron Harn says both Friday and Saturday will feature Grammy-Award winning artist Kenny Rogers performing in the Greene Room Event Center.  He points out that both shows are the quickest he’s seen sell out in his ten years in the casino and entertainment industry.

“We sold out the first show in about 22-hours (and) sold out the second show in about five days.  So a very, very strong response to those shows.  We’re very, very excited, I’ve never seen shows sell quite that fast.”

Other Friday activities include “A Token of Our Appreciation” giveaway, where the first 200 people will receive a commemorative silver, custom-mint Wild Rose coin starting at 10am.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 6pm, Kenny Rogers performs at 7:30pm, Brad Morgan performs a free show in the Coaches Corner restaurant at 9pm and fireworks ends the evening at 10pm in the parking lot.

Saturday’s activities include “A Token of Our Appreciation Drawing” that starts on the casino floor at 1pm, followed by a second sold-out show of Rogers at 7:30pm and another free performance from Morgan at 9pm.  Sunday wraps up the grand opening with more drawings on the casino floor.

On August 6, 2013, 57 percent of registered voters in the County voted in favor of a casino by 75 percent.  It was the highest first-time referendum vote for a casino in IRGC history.
